Detailed Introduction of Yangshuo

Yangshuo has a population of around 300,000. It is located in Yangshuo County, Guangxi Province. Yangshuo is a major destination for foreign backpackers, who come for the biking and hiking. The town is also famous as China’s foremost rock climbing destination, with several companies leading tours to some 300 bolted routes.

Kayaking in the Li and Dragon Rivers is also popular. The town, which is situated on a small plain between a number of karst (rock) peaks and the Li River, is easily accessible by bus or boat from nearby Guilin (the capitol of Guangxi Province). The surrounding area has inspired Chinese art for centuries, and the famous Karsts remain popular in depictions of China.

The area is a premier destination for outdoor activities, with hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, and biking all offering top notch routes and scenery. Though Guilin is much larger, it is highly recommended that you spend more time in Yangshuo if you are visiting South China. Avoid traveling on the first week of October and May, as these are huge travel days.
