Hainan, which literally means ¡°South of the Sea,¡± is China¡¯s smallest province.
It consists of several islands, the largest of which is called Hainan. Hainan is famous for its almost constantly sunny weather and pleasant temperatures. The coldest months are in Janurary and Februrary, when temperatures plummet to between 16 and 21 degrees Celsius.
The hottest months are in July and August, when temperatures reach 25 to 29 degrees Celsius. Much of the islands industry is based on agriculture.
Marine products also contribute significantly. Shrimps, scallops, and pearls are raised in shallow bays and basins for local use and export, while groupers and tuna are caught further offshore.
The island is a mariners paradise and nearly every water based activity is offered. Nearly anything you can think of. Hainan provides an authentic South Asian tropical experience unlike anything else you will find in Thailand or Malaysia.
